The pickleball player meeting held Saturday was well attended. The group was informed of pickleball history at LCV and where we currently stand. A draft response to the Board letter explaining their rationale for eliminating pickleball was read and discussed. A pickleball leadership team was formed and held their first meeting at Ed White's Sunday afternoon. The next event is the Townhall Meeting described in the 4/26 post here. Our strategy is not to attack the Board members but to reason with them and try to find solutions. Please attend if you can. The number of pickleball players present could have a major impact on the Board members.
Wednesday 4/26 **EXTREMELY IMPORTANT**
Every household should have received this email from the Association:

There is a meeting of pickleball players this Saturday at 4PM next to the pool. The information we have so far for a response to the Board letter will be presented and further inputs will be solicited.
Also, a pickleball player leadership team will be formed to head up our future actions. Think about whether a member of your household would like to participate.

Sunday 4/23
The pickleball player meeting to discuss options has been scheduled for Saturday 4/29 at 4PM next to the pool. Bring your noise reduction ideas, especially in the direction of the solar panels, but also for a new pickleball court.
Saturday 4/22
1. The motion passed at the Board meeting was actually broader than just ending pickleball on Tennis Court 1. It was that plus a vote against any new pickleball construction.
2.The Board will hold a Townhall meeting to explain their rationale for having no pickleball at our HOA. This is tentatively scheduled for the first week of May. Odds are the rationale will primarily be about the noise impact on nearby neighbors wherever pickleball is played.
3. The pickleball player meeting to discuss options is scheduled for next Saturday 4/29 or Sunday 4/30 at the Gazebo next to the pool.

Friday 4/21/23. BIG NEWS: Wednesday night the HOA Board of Directors approved a motion to stop allowing pickleball on Court 1 as soon as they could. (They must provide a 28-day notice for this court rule change.)
The primary reason was noise complaints from nearby residents who can hear the sounds of pickleball.
There are things pickleball players can do about this. Check this site daily for updates. A meeting will be scheduled next weekend 4/29 or 4/30 to discuss options.

4/9/23 Welcome to this new website. Its purpose is to keep LCV pickleball players aware of ongoing pickleball issues important to the Board of Directors and therefore to pickleball players. Please check in every couple of weeks for updates.
The most important issue now is this one, being considered by the Board at the April 19 meeting: Whether to continue to allow pickleball on Court 1. Because there is still uncertainty about whether any new pickleball courts will be built, the very existence of pickleball at LCV depends on a positive resolution of this issue. What needs to be done as a minimum is explained in the following flyer which can be distributed to other players by providing them with the link to this site: lcvpickleball.com
Please send your emails in before Wednesday, April 19 when the Board meets.

PICKLEBALL PLAYERS—WE COULD LOSE PICKLEBALL AT LA COSTA VALLEY!!
From the April 23 Newsletter:
“At the April 2022 Board of Directors meeting, the Board voted to paint pickleball lines on Court 1 and evaluate the situation in twelve months. At the April 2023 Board meeting, the Board will be evaluating the current situation and all the comments received over the year to determine how to move forward.”
For more than a year, several tennis players have opposed the lines and the Board has received complaints from nearby residents about the noise.
WE NEED TO MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD!

NOTHING OUR ASSOCIATION HAS EVER DONE HAS ADDED TO THE HEALTH AND WELFARE OF LCV RESIDENTS MORE THAN PROVIDING PICKLEBALL TO 500-600 OF OUR RESIDENTS LIVING IN 279 HOUSEHOLDS (April 2022 survey results).
ALL PICKLEBALL RESIDENTS, PLEASE EMAIL cbirster@keystonepacific.com TODAY! TO EXPLAIN HOW PROVIDING THIS FUN, GREAT EXERCISE ACTIVITY FOR COUPLES, FAMILIES, AND FRIENDS HAS BENEFITED YOUR HOUSEHOLD. PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH OTHER PICKLEBALL PLAYERS--
